Design Ops: Scaling the Process of Good Design

Design Ops is the backbone of what makes a design process successful and also supports the designer. My role at NBC Universal allowed me to streamline efficiencies in both design and product development.

#1 Cheerleader & Coach

My goal, first and foremost, as a Design Manager is to provide focus, function, and value for the team of designers. I lead the team with a place of empathy: of caring deeply about their ambitions and growth - knowing their strengths and helping them realize how successful they can be.

Tools & Culture

We also determine the essential design tools the team needs to work efficiently for designs and prototypes, as well as bridging various disciplines.

Having a healthy design culture is also important in investing in the team. I believe it all starts with a clear onboarding process to being transparent and sharing cross platform knowledge. This allowed me to foster a strong relationship with the team.

My number one priority is to keep my team moving efficiently. I standardized the design feedback/review process and managed projects to ease collaboration and amplify effectiveness with other teams.
